A friend just acquired an early FB engine, complete. He really wants to get rid of it. Is anyone interested? I think it maybe from an Olds truck. It has the transmission too, and is huge, with square pedals. It appears to have a four speed transmission with a power take off.

If you post the numbers and letters that are found cast on the block as they appear then we can likely tell what year and application. Since the cars and trucks used the same engine and transmission if might fit either.

Does it run? If not what parts are missing? Does is turn over or the crankshaft rotate? Transmission shift between gears? It should have a standard "H" pattern and be a three speed if original FB.

How much does he want for it?

FB motors, did they have the 3-port head or were they just 1-port?
Cheers

Yes! The '19 to '21 models had a single port head. The '22 had the three port.

The FB motor has a block, a lower crankcase casting and a oil pan. It was used in the bigger cars and 1 ton trucks. There is another 4 cylinder engine the FA that has a block and oil pan only it uses a 1 port head. Real good pictures of both in the "Parts List for 1 ton truck model T" issued Sept 1, 1923.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

I'm going to move this thread to the 4-cyl forum. (...though it most properly should be in the For Sale forum.) I think it will be more appropriate there.

If the clutch and brake pedals are very large and square, and the gear lever stands vertical,it's probably a 4 cyl engine out of an Oldsmobile Economy Truck.A real dead give away will be,that it would have the Oldsmobile "script" cast on the inlet manifold riser/hotbox.

Downunder we have found a number of FA-FB Chevs, a couple of complete cars and quite a few wrecks, so they must have been exported to Aus. Although you'd wonder why.
I have two of those 3 port heads that I picked up at local swap meets, and no! they arn't for sale

I received them today, thank you!
It is good to have this type of reference in the library.

That is good to know I thought they were more scarce here than the US :) I have one of these heads and I do not want to sell it ever!
