I have a 1960 inline 6 cylinder 261 cu. in. engine. Does anyone know the correct size water pump pulley for this engine?

Thank you.

There were several 6 cylinder water pump pullyies used an the diameter depended on the application. A 261 truck would have had a rather small diameter pulley as it could have been used on a truck carrying heavy loads. If this 261 engine has been transplanted to a car or small truck you could use a pulley from a 1959-1962 6 cylinder car.

I should add I would use the smaller passenger car fan blade also.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know the diameter and height of the 1959 - 1962 6 cyl car pulley. My 261 cu. in. engine was installed in a 1950 1/2 ton pick up truck. My problem is the water pump stands out to close to the radiator. I could not fine a short shaft water pump in my area. I purchased a new 1957 chevy water pump that should work after I press down the hub and cut off the excess shaft. The pulley that came off the truck is 4-1/4" OD, Height is 1-3/8", pulley holds a 5/8" belt. (the crank pulley is 6" OD with 5/8 belt). I have some wiggle room on the height of a new pulley and could use up to a 2-1/2" height. I've called Summit and others no luck. Looked on the internet but rarely find the height. Thank you.

You have the option of using an electric water pump. You can put it about any place. Of course you'd have to use an electric fan as well I believe.
