I am electrically challenged. Is there a simple way to test an electrolock?

Use a multi-meter and connect it as shown below with the key in the on position. If the continuity is good it'll read all 0s. The pictures below are me testing mine following a rebuild.

Check the centre wire for continuity,on off switch, and also check the centre wire for contact with the outer cable.
