Have a buddy with a 1961 Chevy Corvair. The car has some very desirable accessories as part of the car But how are accessories that are not attached, i.e. hand held spotlight,tool kit, owners manual etc supposed to be displayed and judged? Are they indeed judged? Thanks. CorvairEd VCCA# 47508 Dade City,Fla

The owners namual is a required item and the judging sheet says to display it by placing it on the front seat.
Any accessories that do not attach to the car like the hand held spot light are usuallly dispayed next to or behind the car. You will not get points deductted for thems (or any CORRECT ACCSORIES) AS LONG AS THEY ARE LISTED IN CEVROLET MATERIAL TO BE AVAILABLE FOR THAT CaR (YEAR ABD MODEL)

You do not gain judging points for having accessories but can loose points for incorrect accssories.

Corvair Ed, you present a good question. Chev Nut is correct. If you have an attached accessory to the car, such as exhaust extension, locking gas cap, bumper guards they will be evaluated along with all of the other components in terms of condition and authenticity. As was stated in the previous post, the owners manual is required and to be displayed on the front seat of the vehicle. Any accessories that are displayed outside of the vehicle will be greatly appreciated and educational but will not be evaluated for points for or against your vehicle.

If there can be points deducted for fully authorized functioning accessories that are in good shape prestntationwise then it is a no brainer that they should earn extra points.

How many of us go to all efforts and money to obtain accessories only to have to take the dang (not the word I wanted to use but close) things off before judges come around and owing to follow the rule book scrutinize the accessory and maybe take points off.

On a 41, if the dang whale tail has a bit of exhaust dust in the inside of it, you'll wish you'd have taken the thing off. Would too. This is just and example

This rule is completely upside down and needs to be addressed by sober judging committee. This, however, is something you should not hold your breath.

Think I have mention before that this is what brought about the term "plane Jane" name. Yeah, nothing but the car and no accessories at all even if the lack there of renders the car ugly and would only be bought by someone who shouldn't even but a car in the first place.
