Just started reassembly, is there a color the gas tank gets painted? Don't want to put it in un protected. Any sources of information on color of other misc parts as well?

Thanks in advance

I am 99% sure the gas tanks were not painted. They were made from a rust proof steel.

The gas tank was made from zinc plated steel much the same as the steel used in modern steel bodies.

If you are using a replacement or reproduction fuel tank I would contact the source to determine if it needs any additional exterior protection.

it is an aftermarket tank I purchased 25+ years ago. I'll look into it further.
