Hello all I am looking to buy a 41-46 Chevrolet AK COE, in as good condition as possible, and unmodified ( I cannot get frame swapped or V8 approved for the road here). Older restorations or originals would be fine, preferably a short wheel base 109" or 132". I am not looking for major restoration projects yet. If any one knows of one that could be for sale, please let me know. Thanks in advance Cheers Niels

Just for clarification... what you are looking for is a 41 to "1946" Chevrolet COE. I know some people refer to the last of them as early 1947's. That is a misunderstanding on their part and is wrong by Chevrolet's own definition. After the war there were actually 2 distinct 1946 truck models. The first was essentially a holdover from 1945 with the painted grill all and painted bumper on commercials. The second had some changes such as the return of chrome to the grill and commercial bumpers. This second 1946 model did not appear until well into the 1946 calendar year (sometime between March and May I think) and was produced well into the 1947 calendar year when the Advance Design were introduce in about May/June of 1947. This is what confuses some people. The fact is though, that Chevrolet NEVER referred to the trucks produced up until the AD trucks came out as anything but 1946's. And if you are consulting Chevrolet literature such as parts books etc about the older trucks you will ALWAYS need to look for information on 1946's, as any information or parts etc Chevrolet gives for 1947's will ALWAYS be for the newer Advance Design trucks.
I hope this aids you in avoiding any confusion during your search for a 41-46 COE. And I hope you succeed in your search! They are interesting old trucks and would be a nice addition to what must be a VERY interesting collection you have! Good Luck!
I have a 1942 Chevy C.O.E in Missouri. It was my Dad's truck and he is gone now so we have decided to sell the truck. I will check the length but it might be too long for you. It has a 12 foot long (?) farm style dump bed that was probably installed in the 1960s. The frame was professionally shortened at that time. I can remove the bed if it does not suit your needs, but the value of the bed is probably less than the value of taking to off. It has the two speed (lever shifted) rear axle. It has not been started in a few years but if you are interested, and we can agree on a price, the price will be a running, driving, stopping, price. P.M. me or direct email me at my address below if you want to know more. I have some old photos to get us started. The truck is red (faded) and looks to have been repainted once. The engine was replaced with a new factory engine or short block according to the original owner. I know a significant amount of history for the truck, including original delivery information and I might have the original invoice from when it was purchased new in Illinois.
