Hello all I am looking to buy a 41-46 Chevrolet AK COE, in as good condition as possible, and unmodified ( I cannot get frame swapped or V8 approved for the road here). Older restorations or originals would be fine, preferably a short wheel base 109" or 132". I am not looking for major restoration projects yet. If any one knows of one that could be for sale, please let me know. Thanks in advance Cheers Niels

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
Just for clarification... what you are looking for is a 41 to "1946" Chevrolet COE. I know some people refer to the last of them as early 1947's. That is a misunderstanding on their part and is wrong by Chevrolet's own definition. After the war there were actually 2 distinct 1946 truck models. The first was essentially a holdover from 1945 with the painted grill all and painted bumper on commercials. The second had some changes such as the return of chrome to the grill and commercial bumpers. This second 1946 model did not appear until well into the 1946 calendar year (sometime between March and May I think) and was produced well into the 1947 calendar year when the Advance Design were introduce in about May/June of 1947. This is what confuses some people. The fact is though, that Chevrolet NEVER referred to the trucks produced up until the AD trucks came out as anything but 1946's. And if you are consulting Chevrolet literature such as parts books etc about the older trucks you will ALWAYS need to look for information on 1946's, as any information or parts etc Chevrolet gives for 1947's will ALWAYS be for the newer Advance Design trucks.
I hope this aids you in avoiding any confusion during your search for a 41-46 COE. And I hope you succeed in your search! They are interesting old trucks and would be a nice addition to what must be a VERY interesting collection you have! Good Luck!
I have a 1942 Chevy C.O.E in Missouri. It was my Dad's truck and he is gone now so we have decided to sell the truck. I will check the length but it might be too long for you. It has a 12 foot long (?) farm style dump bed that was probably installed in the 1960s. The frame was professionally shortened at that time. I can remove the bed if it does not suit your needs, but the value of the bed is probably less than the value of taking to off. It has the two speed (lever shifted) rear axle. It has not been started in a few years but if you are interested, and we can agree on a price, the price will be a running, driving, stopping, price. P.M. me or direct email me at my address below if you want to know more. I have some old photos to get us started. The truck is red (faded) and looks to have been repainted once. The engine was replaced with a new factory engine or short block according to the original owner. I know a significant amount of history for the truck, including original delivery information and I might have the original invoice from when it was purchased new in Illinois.
It's always nice to hear that another old truck has found it's way to someone who will love it and preserve it as it was meant to be. 👍 Did the truck have to travel far to find you? 🙂
Its completely stock and will stay that way (only is that it might grow a second carburetor), With regards to travel, by American standards it is actually local.
Finally I succeeded in finding a good COE. It was imported to Norway from the US in 2011 and subsequently restored until 2014. It came up for sale in back in 2021 and I tried to buy it, but was not quick enough, a que had already form for it. I had since then given much thought to what happened to it. Around Easter a friend on mine in Norway manage to track it down and get in contact with the new owner (who in the end didnt really enjoy driving it) , and then suddenly things moved quickly with the result that I flew to Norway, Friday to collect it and take the ferry home Saturday. It is in a very good condition, but it needs a bit of detailing, I need the rubber stops for the hood, the dash trim in front of the driver, I could use a new front emblem for the hood, and other small bit. But now with a bit of servicing and TLC its ready to be back on road. Does anyone have good pictures of how the hood latches/locks look and work
Since this thread is no longer about looking for a vehicle I'll move it to the General Discussion forum. Feel free to put an ad in the Parts Wanted forum for the parts you're looking for.

I fitted side indicators today and had it out for a test drive. I still have a slight issue with charging, I think related to the voltage regulator, the generator is charging 7,4V, but I only have a very small charge on the battery.
Nice truck, good things come to those that wait. With the charging issue a quick rub with very fine sandpaper (preferably wet and dry without the water) between the points of the regulator may well clean the oxidation and allow things to work correctly. Tony
Hi Tony I did some more cleaning of the points and played around with the coils and success, it charges now. So I am getting closer to inspection and road registering it
Now with plates and a new nose badge, and have made a tool box for fitting under the body.
yes sadly I dont get much spare time at the moment, so I dont get out much but I have added a 100 miles to it the first two day of having it registered.
Love it. I just did a member search and we show 10 club members in Denmark. I hope you find value in joining the club, then you can do a simple member search and get their contact information.
