I am going to be replacing the tires on my 1932 chevy. The tire size is 5.25/5.50-18 with 3.250" white walls. Coker tires sells a firestone tire with raised lettering on the white wall. Did the original tires have raised lettering on them ?. Also the only tire tube I can find in that size has the valve stem offset, The hole in the rims for the valve stem that are on the car appear to be in the center. Has anybody recently purchased tire tubes for this size and type rim ?. I have found Lucas tire sells the 5.25/5.50-18 tire with a smooth white wall available if the factory tire from 1932 did not have raised lettering on them.

You will have to purchase the 19 inch tubes with center valve stems. They work in my 18 inch tires and wheels.

The original factor installed tires for 1932 were blackwalls. A dealer could exchange those factory installed tires for tires with whitewalls. In those days both sides had whitewalls not just one. So the tires you want to install will not be factory or period correct. Therefore in my opinion you should install what ever you want.

Thanks Chipper, I like the look that the whitewall gives the car so I am going to stay with them.

The tubes I got from Coker for my 18" tires are marked 450/500-18/19 . Be sure to specify center stem .
