Hello, I would like to buy one of these battery minders that keep your battery on a trickle charge while not using the car. Is there a specific kind that would best for use on a 6 volt system? Also should the battery cables be removed from the battery when using the charger. Thank you.

I have a small one that I use on the 12 volt battery in my truck. The 6 volt battery in my 38 never allows the minder to go off charge, ie the yellow light stays on. Usually I find that occurs when the battery is about three years old but this one was like that from new.

Old 216 hi there. Do you need to disconnect the cables from the battery when on the battery minder? I always have disconnected the cables when using a regular battery charger. Thank you.

I have a disconnect on the ground cable, I always open that when I park it. That is all I do.

You do not have to disconnect the battery when using a battery tender. I put mine on during winter and never disconnect the battery.

I have tenders on my 39 Chevy business coupe, 25 model T, and my 2004 Corvette. They are all three different brands and they all work as they should.
