I believe the four bolt top is for the 1928 vehicles and the eight bolt top is for the '27 and earlier vehicles.

Here's a thread that has some interesting info in it regarding these tanks: https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/397044/1926-vacuum-tank.html

Here's another thread that talks about the differences between the '27 and '28 vehicles: https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/236876/1927-and-1928.html

Cheers, Dean

Some very late 1927 passenger cars also used the 4 screw top vacuum tank(the ones with the larger valves, same as a '28 & the 635-B distributor),a mate here in Australia has a fully restored '27 tourer with the 4 screw top vac tank. The 8 screw top vac tanks were used right up to '28 on the 1 ton trucks.
