I have a bent push rod on the intake side of my 1938 Chevy PU 216 engine. Where is the best place for me to purchase a new one? The ones I see for a Chevy 216 are all advertised to be a little over 10 inches long and mine measures 12 7/8 inches long.

The replacements are for a later 216. They'll work on your '38 IF you put later lifters in the engine too. I see original pushrods on ebay from time to time. If it's not bent badly just straighten it. No more pressure than the stock 216 valve springs exert, a straightened pushrod should work just fine. I've done that on mine. Sounds like someone ran the engine with old gas in it & stuck a valve(s). I've never done that.......(see photo) hood A word of warning. Be sure to pull the head and thoroughly clean every valve stem and guide if it was a stuck valve before trying to start the engine again. Also pull the tank and clean it out. If you don't it'll happen again.
