I have a 1946 Fleetmaster that the engine was getting tired. I found a 235 out of a 54 chev . The guy was going to hot rod out his car and I bought the 235. I noticed an oil puddle under the motor and saw it was dripping out of the weep hole. Is that pretty normal or is there something wrong? Thanks Bob

It is quite normal and if not leaking to bad live with it. To cure requires replacing the engine rear main bearing seal.

Thanks Gene. I also wondered if would help a little to add some of the stop leak products on the market. Is there any harm to any part of the motor in doing so?

Stop leak in the cooling system may possibly work (i have had it work for me), stop leak in the oil, I doubt it will work.

Isn't there a product for transmissions that is suppose to make seals swell up to stop leaks?? Not sure if that would help on engine seal or safe to add to engine oil !!

Would stop leak in the cooling system work for a main bearing seal leak?

No it would not. That is not what I meant. I agree with Gene.

I see what you meant. I also agree with Gene but thought for now maybe a stop leak would slow it down instead of replacing the seal.

Uncle Ed,

I had the same take on your statement as Bob. Initially, that is.

BTW: Does your new Medicare walker have whitewalls on it? Just asking. I know, I know and apologise in advance.

Hi Charlie, I guess I have never won any awards on my ability to correctly express might thoughts but my wife is even worse so having her proof read might not help much! No my walker doesn't have white walls but my '37 does!
Best wishes,
Ed
