After reading this post it made me think about using a bicycle light and the one I found sits right in the back window with some velcro and is rechargeable, and being rather chea.........er, thrifty, I was able to find this one for about $25 and it works great!
I mounted the button on the wheel spoke and it also has a flashing mode on it. The button lights up when it is flashing so you are not driving like the old guy with the never ending signal!

Has anyone considered motorcycle turn signals? They are 6 volt LED and could be attached with brackets.

Yes, I have looked at them as well. Was open to any 6v Option !!
