I've experienced this as well. Some posts take me right back to the beginning but some take me to the newest posting that I haven't seen.

I also have the exact same problem on two different computers, so it appears to be site related.

While I'm not happy to see problems I am happy that this problem isn't just me. Immediately following my last post where I said it didn't happen with my desktop, it happened with my desktop so indeed it seems to be something with the site since it's happening with several folks.

Okay, I'm confused. Is it happening with someone who only USES ONE PC?

Or is it happening to people who log in from different computers?

I only log in from one computer. Not being very computer literate I just assumed it was something I was doing. Not sure but I believe on multi page post it brings up the beginning of the last page.

I use the site from only one computer and it is always the same computer. However, for the past few days I have had the same problem as the rest, so I tried Chevy Chatter on another computer just to confirm if it was the computer or the site. I had the same problem on the other computer too so that confirms that the problem wasn't my computer.

I use two, a desktop and a laptop. It happens on both. It doesn't happen every time. When I clicked this thread I went directly to the first unread post as it should do. There are times I get dropped at the top of a thread instead.

The new web site looks great.
I cant seem to access any of the Vehicle Technical Information under the members only tab even though I am signed in. All I get is a blank PDF. I am trying to access the 1928 Engine rebuild class (schools in session) that I was reading in flipbook form last week.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just visited the Vehicle Technical Info area and the School is in Session file is there.

It takes a while to load onto the screen because it is a very large file.

Notice that you are viewing the PDF now, rather than the flip book. I believe flip books are not supported by the new software.

Cheers, Dean

Thanks Dean for checking the resource centre is still operational, unfortunately it still doesn't work for me.
It may be because I am an Electronic Member only?
I get the following message

Couldn’t open PDF
Something’s keeping this PDF from opening.
Go back to the last page

This is for all the information under Members Only, Vehicle Technical info. Yet I can read all the other member only documents such as Resource center.

I have managed to open schools in session by accessing it through my browser history and saving it to favorites so that has resolved my immediate issue. But any suggestions with future access to the tech area would be appreciated.

Do you have Acrobat Reader on your computer?

Tried emailing a Chatter posting (twice) with no results. Has anyone done so successfully?

Recently I've had a conversation with a VCCA member using the "Private Message" area. To date we've had a total of eight postings. Originally there was a feature that informed the user that an entry have been viewed by the receiving person. The area in question is the "Unread by". In each of the eight postings the response to the "Unread by:" entry reads "none". Has that feature changed or been lost?

Emailing a post or a thread to myself has never worked for me.

Ultimately, it does not matter too much because I can copy a post or a page of posts from this site and paste it into a document on my computer.

I've been doing this to capture my 'Resurrection of a '28 4 banger' thread.

Cheers, Dean

I'll say it again -- There has been NO software changes to CHAT since earlier this year (Jan or Feb). So anything that you are seeing (or NOT seeing) was caused by something else.

Now, one element that did change was the email addressing procedure for VCCA.org
I now suspect that that is being too selective about which emails it sends out. I have successfully "emailed" some postings. And I continue to receive "notices" when people flag a post, or when they send me a PM. So I don't have a known problem with my email account.

Yesterday I sent a "email post" back to m006840 but didn't get an acknowledgement, so I'm guessing that it didn't work. Thi is the kind of troubleshooting that I can test out -- a KNOWN problem.

Keep posting here -- but you've got to be specific:
What kind of email didn't arrive? Post, forward, notification, etc.

I have tweaked the site permissions. Please try again. Anything that requires the FORUM to email something.

Thanks.

I just did and gave a half hour and no Email received. Might be best to find someone else with the same problem to verify it is not my computer or Comcast service.

At this stage I have not noticed any change with the sections I use which is by no means all of the possibilities.

FWIW, since my initial complaint above, I've been consistently directed to the first unread post in this thread as it should be. Don't know which chain you rattled Bill but it seems to have been the correct one.

It's been a while since I pursued this a few years ago. But I remember that users can reset ALL of the message to "READ" without too much effort. That changes the "flags" for all "UNREAD" postings. A simple thing, but it messes up your mind when you have a standard way of viewing the different forums.

Let's see if it continues to work properly. If not, don't hesitate to let me know.

That could be the reason, I click the "Mark all read" at the bottom each time but dont log out. Next time I am online I am logged in and forums with new postings have a yellow flag and the first new posting is at the top of the page.
I have been doing it that way for so long it has become automatic reaction.
