I've pulled the fuel tank out for a good cleaning and found that the fuel line outlet from the tank doesn't have a fuel pick up tube or line. This is on a stock 1930. With the way it currently is, I would always have to have a full tank. What is the correct fix? Thanks, Bob

I looked for a tube, pipe or ? The only thing in the tank was a hand carved stick with notches, fuel gauge?

The dip tube is a solid tube that goes down the side of the tank from the outlet and then it runs across the bottom of the tank. Without the dip tube you won't get any gas up to the fuel pump. The sending unit for the fuel gauge is not a hand carved stick with notches.

I get it, I just can't find a part listing for it. Don't know what it looks like or what it's made of?

The dip tube is a steel line like the one used for the fuel line that runs from the gas tank to the fuel pump. You can buy the steel line of the correct diameter by the foot from your local auto parts store like NAPA. The fuel line runs down the inside wall of the tank and then part way across the bottom of the tank. You will probably need a sheet metal man to install the line for you.

The fuel line runs down the inside wall of the tank and then part way across the bottom of the tank. The dip tube is connected to the inside wall of the tank where the fuel line outlet is. The dip tube then goes down the wall of the tank on the inside and then runs part way across the bottom of the tank.

ok, had to use mirror to get some pictures, and also threw together a quick sketch of HOW my tube is in my tank. there is a small wire that is wrapped around end of tube and tack welded to the bottom of tank to hold the end of the tube down. 1929 Fuel Tank Tube SketchGreen is Fuel Tank Cyan is Tube to feed Fuel Blue is wire tacked to tank around tube Back of Fitting on tank for Tube Feeder Tube inside Tank Wire Around Tube on Bottom of TankPictures are not the best, large mirror would not fit in the opening, and the go pro was to big to get in as well. i do not have a bore scope camera either ;/ hopefully this will get the concept down !!

Ok, got the concept. The fuel is sucked thru this pipe to the fuel pump instead of from the tank directly. Thanks very much for the help Genem
