I just bought my from Snyder's. Bought the late 31 style. There is a difference from the original but finding good original can be very challenging & expensive. They are marked TR83A & from what I've read, they were used through the 1933 year. 1934 changed. They weren't just used by one car manufacture. It was just the way things were...then...Joe

I ordered the metal valve stems for my 1930 from Universal Tire and they were identical to the original metal valve stems.

I don't think Universal offers the later design. Seems like I found them at Snyder's & another place but they were selling Snyder's parts...Joe

I had the metal valve stems installed on the tubes when I purchased them from Universal Tire. It was worth it to have them do the installation.

I have tubes done both ways. Never a problem with either way. Cutting off rubber stem and adding metal one has worked well for me.

I installed all 5 stems yesterday in about an hour. Of course the tubes were already out. Had to get Sheri to help me when it came to inserting a quarter size stem end into an area smaller than a pencil. Dip tanked all after done & no air bubbles...Joe

I know that cutting off the stem on a perfectly good tube causes the pucker string to tighten, but relaxes when the job is over. Those metal stems sure look better than black rubber. More authentic as well.

The tubes I used were probably the same age as the 1993 tires I took off. Brand new would've been easier to work with but I figured if it didn't work on the old tube, I would have nothing to lose except some time but it did give me experience. Worth the effort...Joe
