My heater controls are too stiff and I have been opening and closing the heater water valve by hand. Stop the car, go around to the passenger side, reach up behind the glove box, etc.
Has anybody had good luck cleaning and/or lubing the cables? I thought Skinned Knuckes had an article on control cables, but I can't find it now.
Best wishes to you all,
Jim

Cables that are easy to remove can be disassembled and lightly sanded to remove all the rust from the wire. Dip the outer shell in some used motor oil and then let drip dry and then clean with a cloth. Reassemble and reinstall. Makes a world of difference. If you can get to the controls in the car, some heavy oil will improve the operation.

I like to pull the the push pull wire out and wash down with brake clean. THen wash up the outer shieth(sp?) as best as possable with brake clean. After it all dries assemble the cable using bry graphite.
