Hi there grease monkey 123 here.

Question--Did the 57 chevy 6 cyl engin with manual trans have hyd liftersin it like the engin with power glide?

Also is a complete rear end on a 52 4 door the same as on a 2 door sedan?

ALL Pasenger car engines from 1956 and up had hydraulic lifters. All 235 truck engines had solid lifters.
There were two gear ratios used in 1950-1952. The 216 standard transmission cars had a 4.11.
The 235 engine Power Glide cars had a 3.55 ratio.
The body style had no affect on the ratio.

Gene,

I know that you have pointed out in times past that the 53 and 54 standard transmissions had a 3:70 rear gear ratio. This may be of interest to 123.

Thanks for the info chevgene

But other than gear ratio was the tube length and housing the same on a 52 4 door as a 51 2 door.
