Does anyone know a source for 5/8" wide fabric hood lace with a hole down the middle for a wire?

The stuff from Jim Carter is too narrow and is not hollow in the center. Chevs of the 40's has the same stuff but with a wire sewn on the back, not threaded down the middle - and is still too narrow. The Filling Station appeared to have the right stuff but when I called he said they had none and he didn't know when or if they'd ever get any more in the future.

From where are you folks getting yours?

That's a different answer than I got from Steve, owner of the filling station....unless something has changed....Joe

Well he definitely said that he had no idea when they would be back in stock. The "if" part was my interpretation of his tone - perhaps I was mistaken.

Try here, AAA, they are hit or miss on what they have in stock but worth a try.

Can't tell if it's wired or not or the size but it's worth the call. I don't see any wired here <CLICK> . I didn't use wired on my '38 & you can't tell the difference by looking. We put the retaining hook over one of the braids.

Tried to find the correct lacing for years…to my knowledge no one has the correct size/configuration….saw a 3/4 wide but no 5/8…I worked with Restoration Specialties (Dave) out of Pa for 3 or 4 years to produce it..he finally gave up…said tooling costs etc. would not justify the demand….I got lucky and found a new roll to exact length, width and configuration in a pile of junk at Hershey in 2013…looks to be NOS….Billu38

I bought a lot of stuff from these guys over the years when I had a '23 Willys-Knight and was always happy with what they sent. I can't vouch for their webbing specifically, but check page 51. It's not wired, mind you, but it is double-beaded.

Thanks for the replies. I will contact the vendors mentioned ... and keep an eye out at swap meets.
