You can purchase a complete shock absorber rebuild kit for the 1932 shock absorbers from the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon. One kit will do four shock absorbers, and the kit contains complete detailed instructions on how to rebuild the shock absorbers, including replacing the shaft seals that are supplied in the kit.

How to remove the metal cap over the seal is described in the instructions supplied in the kit from the Filling Station.

Basically, you gently heat the metal cap with an acetylene torch and let it cool. Do this as many times as required until you can gently tap the edge of the metal cap with a drift pin to remove it.
