The accessory vacuum emergency brake whistle whistles when the emergency brake is on (car running) to remind you to release the emergency brake. When they are working good.....they are still "Mickey Mouse" because of the vacuum switch that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.  :( :( :(

Hi chef-chevy,

This was known as the Parking Brake Alarm, GM Part # 986529 which was an accessory item in 1951 and maybe other years.

More info can be found at: http://www.angelfire.com/d20/51chevaccman/51accassman_0003.htm

Also, the complete Chevrolet Accessories Installation Manual for 1951 Passenger Cars and Trucks can be found at: http://www.angelfire.com/d20/51chevaccman/index.html

Hope this helps.

Keith
