OP 1932Confederate Oil Can Mechanic Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 558 Williamsburg, Virginia	Good afternoon, My 32 Chevy heat riser flap that is operated by a cable is rusted and frozen solid. Someone has brazed (flux and bronze rod looks like) an arm to the shaft in the past. Does anyone have some experience working on these old heat risers and, if I need one, will I have to make one or are there replacements somewhere? Or, should I not go to the trouble and just leave it open and not worry about the thing working like it should. Thanks, Mac

Too bad that you missed it. Anyway, try doing a search on Chevy Chatter for the discussion because it was very informative and, as I remember, the discussion also included how to make a new heat riser and shaft out of stainless steel. I was just trying to get everything working on our old girl. Next is the electroloc and the bushings in the torque tube. Brakes still squeal and stick but I guess this is "normal". 32intime Shade Tree Mechanic Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 182 VA	I used Lee's the kit to fix this problem. Just be warned it is a bit of a task to complete the work. Well worth the effort. He uses copper sleeves that require you to drill or enlarge the existing holes. Unless you are machinist you will need to have this done by others. The drill size escapes me now, but our machine shop had to purchase one. It cost me 80 dollars to have this done. This seems simple to do but the tolerance is very tight and must be in line. Hats off to Lee for this fix.
