I have a Canadian built 1948 Chev Stylemaster and it has 3 narrow pinstripes just outside of the hubcap. These wheels are unmolested factory striped wheels. I have noticed most if not all the other factory striped wheels I have seen only have 2. Whats up with that???

The US built 1940-1948 cars had two wide stripes around the hub cp and one wide stripe on the rim...it intersects the valve stem hole.

I thought I post a few pictures showing how I put the pinstripes back on the wheels after I sandblasted and painted them. First I built up the diameter of the hub on an old 216 water pump with tape to match the diameter of the hole in the wheel. Although the picture shows electrical tape, I found out that masking tape works better. I screwed down the pump with a spacer under it so I could spin the wheel. The next picture shows a magnetic dial indicator base that I used as a steady rest for the pinstriping brush. Rather than fixing the brush in the holder as shown in the picture, I found it was easier just to hold the brush free hand. I used a good Mack #2 striping brush and silver One Shot enamel. Dip the brush and spin the wheel. Thin paint works much better. The wheel does have the third stripe under the trim ring.
