There are indeed differences in the frames. I have a 1938 panel truck, and its frame is different (as is the pickup frame) from the car frames. The panels (and I assume the sedan deliveries) came in different weight classes, 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1 ton, and even those frames have some differences among themselves. I know that the 3/4 ton and 1 ton panel frames are the same, BUT the size of the rear brakes are different on those two. There are other differences as well, most obvious the wheelbases. I have a spare 1939 1-ton frame, if anyone is interested.

Not so fast Masked Man. The 1939 Sedan Delivery and Master 85 used the same Series JB 112 1/4" wheelbase frame. Not the same as JC 113 1/2" 1/2 ton frame or JD (11" brake) and JE (14" brake) 123 3/4" 3/4 ton frame.

A sedan delivery is built on a passenger car chassis. It looks the same as a car of that year but has an enclosed body.
A panel truck is built on a truck chassis and looks like a truck as far as the front end sheet metal is concerned.
A sedan delivery frame will be the same as a passenger car of that year. In 1939 the sedan delivery was on the lower priced Master 85 chassis which had leaf springs in the front. No sedan delivery was available in the deluxe model with a coil spring front suspension.
That being said there is no reason a sedan delivery body could
not be mounted on a delxe model frame.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I was thinking the sedan delivery was comparable to the panel, and obviously I was wrong. Thanks for setting it straight.

If I had a nickel for every time I had to explain that to people who visit, both of my sedan deliveries would be done...Joe
