I am grappling with the correct paint color. I have found the below information on Wikipedia:

Research on the red backround color on 51 Chevy Hood Emblem which in pictures I have seen, looks like a very deep, almost dark red.
From Wikipedia:
The color vermilion is a pure chroma color, located on the color wheel midway between orange and red. It looks like a deep tone of orange
Modern term is also Cadmium Red, but that color looks more like a red/orange with a little yellow added, resulting in a brighter red.
Crimson is a strong, bright, deep red.
Also called Chinese Red because historically cinnabar, a key ingredient was mined in China. The color Chinese red is a deep tone of vermilion, leaning toward more red and darker.
I was sent a picture of an emblem with the original color, which due to age may be faded a bit. To the untrained eye, it looks like I should go with Chinese Red, as it appears on Wiki.
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm interested in finding the correct vermillion color, too. Please let me know if you find a good answer.

The GM Heritage Center may help. Send an email with your question, model, etc. They helped me find the blue for the bowties on my '54 3104 hub caps.
