Got new Rim Seal with Retainer clips. But i don´t know the right position for the different clips. The old ones looked different. Is this the right place for the clips??

I have never worked on a '40 but anything I have worked on you just don't put them where they interfere with anything and still hold the light in OK.

This appears to be very similar to the ones on my 51 truck. On my truck, the clip directly opposite around the circle from the screw hole, fits into a slot in the headlight pot. That is the way it is secured.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

André

Your clips are attached the same as on my '54 truck. Don't know about yours, but the new rubber seal for my '54 was a little larger diameter than the original which made attaching the clips difficult.

Also, the seal has a little flap in which the headlight bezel sits. You can see some pieces of the seal in the pic below.

Hi Lonnie,
thanks for the picture. I see, my clip on the right side, you´ve installed the other way around! My seal is one piece (HR10 from Rockauto).

Yes, the clip at the top of my pic and the clip on the right side of your pic are installed differently.

HOWEVER, I just noticed that your bezel is different to mine. Yours has a tab attached to it above the clip. The tab probably fits into a slot on your headlight housing. My bezel does not have the tab. Your clip may be installed correctly for 1940. So you may need to disregard my answer.

The installation of the clip on my bezel is correct for my '54 pickup. The "tab" on the clip fits into a slot at the top of the headlight housing to secure the bezel at the top. There is no tab on the bezel. A screw through a hole in the bottom secures the bottom of the bezel.

I appologize for not looking at your picture closer before I posted my first answer.

Hi,
think your position is correct, but i should do the tab on the clip under the tab from the bezel. Think that works. Here a picture of my bucket.
