To look authentic for show, the Zerk fitting has got to go.

Right. That's why I made note that for show the Zerk fitting needs to be removed.

The pulley is the give away that it is a re-production. Will the original pulleys fit this pump?

Is that because of the casting numbers, or some other feature.

The original pulleys do not have a machined surface on the outside diameter. They have a sand casting surface.

Don't get me wrong. If I needed one I wouldn't think twice about buying one for our car.

The 1929-32 pumps are the same, however, 1932 uses a different pulley.

The 1932 pulley is not as tall as the 1930-31 pulley.

To further explain the differences in the '29-'31 pumps and '32-'34, the fan belt is closer to the radiator in the later pumps. That is due to a thicker harmonic balancer which locates the crankshaft pulley further forward.

Thanks for clearing this up Chipper. I didn't know pulleys were short or tall. Things must be different on the other side of the rockies.

Just to make 100%, absolutely dog-gonned sure.... even though this pump has an alamite in it, I DO NOT have to use it. I don't have to do ANYTHING AT ALL, nothing to this pump. Just install it and say, "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee," while driving.

I believe you got that right. I would buy one for a spare if I didn't have a NOS spare.

Yep, Remember what happened to the original price of the radiators!!!

I bought one for $395. I think they are over $1,100 now.

Is the water pump painted gray or black? What about the pulley?

The water pump and pulley should be painted engine color, dark blue-gray.

These NEW replacement pumps arrive with a nice semi-gloss BLACK finish on them. Get your touchup guns ready.

So, gray isn't original color? Mine is gray. Do folks just go to Napa or any auto parts store and buy engine paint?
