Since mine has a 235 maybe the exhaust was not in the correct postion to hit the hole and they never bothered to make it work. Also the oil tube breather might not have worked out. The pans are somewhere in texas under and bunch of 2x6s in a barn...smiles

Here are some okay shots of the pans. They have cutouts for all the brake lines, oil vent, exhaust, etc.





They are mounted at the front and back.

GREAT photos as promised. The next to last photo(oilvent tube side) shows a factory cut out of a 180 degree hole in the corner of the metal. Is that for the radiator overflow tube. If it is ,my 38 has the radiator overflow on the other side. Just inspecting the photo closely. THANKS AGAIN

I'm still looking at the photos. BOTH sides have this opening in the corners. I wonder what that was meant for? I see why alot of 37-38 chevys do not have this pan. Looks hard to install and even harder to remove. I guess you would have to cut the exhaust pipe or drop the exhaust flange thru the oblong hole. It's gonna be hard to not scratch the chrome installing mine if I ever get one and modify it to fit. smiles

Na Na Na Na Na I got under engine pans and you don't.
Steve You said one time that you talked to the guy that owned the car before you?..Why don't you call him up and asked what happened to the original pans..I bet that when they changed motors in that car they were to lazy to adapt them to refit.
The previous owner might have those Pan's laying around and would be glad to send them to you..Think positive Good Luck ED

He was 90 the last time I talked to him. His son made him sell the car, he was really upset about it. I guess I don't need them that badly. Nice guy. He told me he drove this car from Apache ,Texas to Panama. Not Panama City ,Fl....The country of PANAMA. I ask him for advise about buying this old car from his son a month earlier. He told me to sell it, it needed everything...smiles I think he was right.

Steve, Just think how easy the splash pans will be to install after they are chromed. Hummmm Grant

That cutout is for the brake line. There are three total in the splash pans, one near the oil vent and two at the front of the splash pans for the brake lines that go to each front wheel.
