That looks like the oil filter JC Whitney used to sell. (Maybe still do) Any way it looks good.

Hi, Just a word of caution. With the oil filter piped with what appears to be copper tubing, keep a constant watch as copper tubing is prone to crack when subjected to vibration.

Do you know what a "Cool Can" is ? We used to make them after highschool and sell them at the dragstrip for $40 back in the mid 60s. Some of them cracked after the trip down the dragstrip a few times.

How to.. 6 inch dia. thinwall M.S. pipe x 6 inches long
weld a cap on one end
weld a cap w/hinge on the other
make a bracket
coil 3/8 copper tubing inside, 2 ends sticking out
Fill with "ICE"

no vaporlock, cool gas = Horsepower

40 bucks, not bad for highschool kid

Steve, Just curious, How has the new filter affect your oil pressure? Is it the same? A little lower? Let us know as it might be a good way to go.

Don't really think it changed anything but not sure. The 235 goes beyond the 30psi orginal gauge most of the time. I had to add 3/4 quart of oil. Every time I do something to the old coupe something else needs attention. I'm slowly making headway...I think.

Steve....How come your car does not have "engine pans"??? the steel pans that go between the engine and the frame.
Just curious...ED

If you're talking about the side pans (louvered)that on each side of the engine. I've got those. That's the only pan I'm aware of.

No...the engine pans go from the sides of the motor to the top of the frame. You should not be able to see the ground looking under the hood's from the top of the motor down......ED

I've alot of 38 coupes, but I've never seen that. I'd love a photo of that pan. I can't imagine how it would bolt up.So it's like a splash pan? That's a new one on me.I've looked at the exploded view of all the manuals/parts . I can't see a pan like that at all. The exhaust pipe goes thru a hole in the pan?

If this is a joke I'm telling everyone you traded for a Ford...just kidding Agrin

My '37 Master DeLuxe has them. The left one is damaged due to a hack exhaust install. (had a line on a pair of nice ones, but light on funds) The 2 dr. Master Sedan also has them.

No Joke..( would I do that? )...Yes the exhaust pipe goes through a hole on the drivers side, the hole is big enough for the pipe flange to pass through.I don't know how the pans would look chrome plated tho...ED
