Yes, I did use the search function. I read as much as I could find. No where did there appear the answer to this question. How does the Bowtie Emblem attach to the Backer plate when it has been removed from the Radiator Shell? Double Back tape has been suggested but I doubt that is how Dealerships did it back in the day. If you have the correct badge they just clip in, they have a clip which has four prong type clips which go into the round hole on the bottom half, and ther is a small clip on the top half which clips either side of the bolt in the top half of the backing plate. I think jack39roadster had some photos posted on the side of this page a few months ago.

To be clear Al, a different badge was used with the stoneguard than the badge used on the rad shell. As indicated above, the proper one for the stone guard had a press in clip on the lower half of the back of the emblem (rather than centered in the emblem as for rad shell)which fit snugly into the hole in the stoneguard. Since most original badges have this part rusty, the clip will not likely hold very securely, which is why some suggest using 3M tape to hold it in place. Also you can use an original rad shell badge by simply filing off the old clip and using 3M. That is what I am using, holds great, and can be peeled off with care.

Thank you Gentlemen! Clearly spoken so I understand it all now. I'll be cleaning up the back side of the Rad. Emblem and taping it on with body moulding tape. Al W.

The original badge had a round clip sodered onto the back of the badge. If the original round clip is missing then use the 2 sided tape method.

So, here is the results of this Thread. Thanks to Gunsmoke, Jack39rdster and Oldcarz I am well pleased to have the Stone Guard almost installed. The difference in the Emblem Mounting Flange was key to the puzzle. Once that was told the rest just falls into place. I was able to take a pair of Pliers and pull the Flange off the Rad Shell Bowtie Emblem. No damage to a pretty clean Emblem. Then I used Epoxy to attach the Stainless Steel mount to the Mesh/Wire screen. The rest is just a couple of screws and then the double sided taping of the Emblem. Simple. (Now!). Thanks to all! Al W.
