It would sure make it hard to work under the hood and it would hide a lot of Steves chrome stuff!

Steve....All you have to do is find one or two of those old metal tire covers and cut it off on the bottom to form fit the fender curve and weld it on your fender...Who would know that its fake???......ED

You'd tell everybody !!! Just kidding. I saw a how-to-do-it on another forum, it looked like a pretty big job. I think the main thing is getting the spare tire to set as deep as it should be to look right. The 38 chevrolets that were shipped to India and S.Africa had the mounts on both fenders. They requested that because of poor road conditions. They had a leather and rubber strap that secured the spare mount. Very rare.

I didn't know that. I'll keep an eye open for parts. I'd say they're rare.
I can't even find a photo of a 38 station wagon..grin

Steve, Don't bother looking for a '38 Chev Station Wagon picture. They didn't make any. First Chev Station Wagon year was '39, per a recent G&D. The closest thing in '38 to a Station Wagon was this Carryall Suburban on a half ton truck chassis. Note the truck hood and no speed line on the door. It only had 2 side doors, the right front seat folded for rear passenger access. The rear doors were hinged at the top & bottom. The wheelbase was slightly shorter than pass cars. You could have purchased this truck chassis with fenders & truck front clip & truck dash & windshield with a frame, and then had a custom wood body made for it elsewhere. ![[Linked Image from i27.photobucket.com]](http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c169/hayre/38chevsuburbancarryallhalftonresized50.jpg)

The car is a 1936 Chrysler.
There were no Chevrolet station wagons in 1938. The 1939 was the first Chevrolet "woody" and it had a right fender well. This required a special right half of the hood so it wouls clear the spare.
1936 is the last year Chevrolet offered dual side mounts in the US however there is one 1937 assembled in the US that belongs to a VCCa member and it is all original.

... So that Cantrell bodied wagon has a truck front fender? The hood and grille look like a passenger car.

Labatts is a good Canadian beer brewer. BTW there aren't too many bad Canadian brewers. Still looking for the first. Sorry but can't say that about US brewers.

That truck is still around, and can be seen every year on the show scene... beautiful truck! Not bad beer, but when you get into some of our smaller breweries, things are better! ![[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]](http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s84/brewsterg6/My%201951%20Chevrolet/323.jpg)
