Uncle ED......WOW....You sure impressed me.
It's amazing when you think about it that these cars we had just kind of happened and you don't realize it (in my case anyway) until you look back and think of them all at once. Thanx....ED

Mr.Mack...Great picture.
I never had a Model "A" But I like them. I grew up in New York City and you very seldom seen a "A" and never seen a Model "T" in the "Big CITY" I think allot of them got scraped in the metal drives during WWII.
I seen allot of them though when we used to vacation in Ohio.
Thanx......ED

That's real strange because Plymouth had some "HOT" cars over the years....Thanx...ED

Yeah, the Schacht Highwheeler was very cool. There was always a little fuzziness about the exact year, it seems they were built in Cincinnati from 1904/5 until 1910. This one was titled as a 1906, so that's what we called it. Got it running and driving in the summer of 1972. I was a little younger then, and had briefly forgotten how to shave for a few years...

ChevyGuru~~~ I thought you was talking about one of those old time "Highwheeler" bicycle's.
That thing is TOO COOL and to drive it also....WOW.
BTW...Nothing wrong with the beard. The last time I shaved was in 1964 my last day in the Army.
I haven't shaved since...and never will Thanx...ED

From what you said before, I thought maybe that's what you were thinking, so that's why I posted the photo. Nope, that list was a list of AUTOMOBILES. I never kept a list of bikes. I will admit, I always thought those high wheel bikes were pretty neat, too. Always looked about impossible to ride, to me.

(The mustache stayed - it's still there, also since 1972.)

I mis-spoke in that photo, that was the summer of '74 I think, not '72. Anyway, in about 1975 I sold it to a guy that was supposedly taking it to a museum somewhere in California. He gave me a lot more money than I had in it! Course I made it run and drive, which it did not when I got it - so it was worth more. I was in partnership with my Dad on that, but made out pretty good.

And I took that money and bought my first new car (age 21), a '75 Camaro 350 4 BBL 4 speed, posi. No A/C (mistake). Added a Casette player from Radio Shack (very cutting edge stuff - no 8 track for me!)

Kept that Camaro about a year, blew the doors off of more than one late model Moostang. Then, somehow, I decided it would be a good idea to trade it on a '73 Caddy Coupe DeVille that had caught my eye at the Chevy used car lot. Ever since, I haven't really been able to exactly re-trace the "logic" that led me to that conclusion... But it was very comfy, and got about the same mileage as the Camaro, with 500 cubic inches!

Didn't keep that real long either, and traded it in on a second new car - a '76 Nova coupe, straight 6 auto with A/C. Being new, it was almost as comfy as the Caddy, got twice the mileage, and I fell back in love with the idea of a Chevy straight 6 - just like the '60 Biscayne that I cut my teeth on. Decided that was more my type of car. Then a guy at work wanted it, made me a real good offer. I bought a '63 Nova convertible (remember, it was only 13 years old then) and got a company car shortly after. That little convertible was the first car of mine that ever got its picture in the G&D - the January 1978 issue of "Chevy Spot Light!" Remember that column?

And then 30 years went by, and here we are...

Here's my list as best I can remember (in somewhat chronological order) beginning with the first car that I considered mine but in my dads name. The first in my name was a 41 coupe I bought in AK. (I'm just counting the old stuff here)
:

1939 Dodge (with Ford engine) (had a powder puff paint job)
1937 Olds (solid as a rock)
1950 Ford Convertible (I abused it)
1941 Chevrolet Sport Sedan (Just transportation)

1941 Chevrolet (the AK one) from here on they were in my name.
1951 Nash Ambassador
1956 Chevrolet Convertible (new) (No job. Repossessed. Went back in Army)
1947 Pontiac (Courted my wife in it luv2 drool yipp talk )
1952 Nash Ambassador (What I had when I got married) greenman
1953 Coupe de Ville Cadillac (Burnt the transmission up in it. Drag racing)
1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk (new)
1962 Olds Convertible (triple white)
1965 Ford Landau Coupe Thunderbird (Nice car, for a Ford)
1966 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible. (Sweet)
1941 Chevrolet SD Town Sedan. Great car.
1941 Chevrolet Convertible (from NY. Rust bucket. Even worse than the one I have now.)
1941 Chevrolet Convertible (from NC.)
1966 Ford Mustang.
1966 Ford Mustang Coupe. (Gave to son #1)
1965 Ford Mustang Conv. (Gave to son #2)
1966 Ford Mustang GT Conv. (Gave to son #4. He's the source of more money for the 41 Conv.)
1967 Z28

Still have:

1941 Conv. (From IL. Should have sold it too.)
1941 SD Coupe (from DE)
1950 Conv. (from NC)
1953 pick up (from NC)

(1966 Mustang GT Conv. Got a bid on it (currently on ebay) so it will soon be gone and more bucks poured down a bottomless pit (read 1941 conv.) Pray for me.
Charlie computer

BTW: The two I most look back on and wish I'd have hung on to? 1953 Cadillac Coupe de Ville and the 1966 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible. Go figure.

Don't you feel better now that you confessed? (6 Ford's??)

I don't know though~~~2 Nash Ambassadors is kind of scary.
But a 59 Studebaker Silver Hawk...That is Real Class!..Those cars were beautiful and FAST!.......ED

Yep, 1966 Chevrolet convertible with factory air. But I may be wrong about the "bel air" part. Can't remember. It was full size and not a Chevelle. What was it called when it was a step down from the "super sport?"
Charlie computer

BTW: The Z28 was a 76 not 67. Got my numbers mixed up.

parking The list of cars I have owned (68) is too long to put here so I will just give some facts regarding my cars. They were all licensed for the road except 4 and that includes my '38 Chev currently a work in progress and a 1932 Pontiac with it's original V/8 engine which myself and a friend purchased from the original owner in 1957.

First Car - '48 Chev Convertible

Purchased New - 17 including a 1975 Coachman Motor Home (Ford) (first, 1967 VW Bug; last, 2010 Toyota Prius)

Worst - toss up between a '69 Camaro RS, limited edition "Snowbird" and a 1992 Dodge Dakota extra cab pick-up (both purchased new)

Best - toss up between a '95 GMC full size extra cab pick-up and a 1985 Toyota SR5 extra cab pickup (both purchased new)

Ones I owned and would like to own today:
'32 Pontiac V/8
'48 Chevy Convertible
'55 Mercury Montclair 2dr hdtp
'57 Olds 88, J2 equipped

Company I Would Never Buy From Again: Chrysler (Sorry MOPAR fans but they put the shaft to me so bad I am still wearing it.)

Regarding "extra cab" used with the pick-ups, I know that is not the correct term for all makes but it is one that I believe everyone understands. Beamer
