You have asked that question several times in the past. The last time was on October 2nd. Click on the link below for the reply to your question on October 2nd.

Check the 1929-34 Chevrolet Duco Color Specifications that you have and you will find that black was used as a solid color in 1929.

Let me ask the question a bit different. Are there any guys out there who painted their 29's solid colors?
and/or
Did the factory give solid colors as a choice, if the customer did not like the DUCO choices?

David,
Just paint the car anyway you want. It is your car and you can do as you please with it.

You have been told numerous times how they originally were painted and apparently you didn't like the answer. It will not change when you ask again either, unless you find someone that can't read the Paint Specifications that are published and available.

Are you people in this club always this friendly to people who ask for information and opinions? It seems that whenever I ask something, I get my head bitten off.
So I guess I am glad I let my membership lapse.
In the car circles I travel, I would recommend that people do not join this club.
If I want to be chewed out for asking a friendly question, I'll go to work.
I am in several other car clubs ie SDC, VMCCA, AACA, etc and never get this kind of treatment. In fact I have written articles for these organizations and my "dumb" questions are quite welcome.

David,
Asking the same question numerous times and receiving friendly answers apparently was not appreciated. Looks like it took a reply that was less friendly to get your attention. I try to be gracious and positive but either not believing the information you were given or continuing to ask the same question until you received the answer you wanted was frustrating! I'm sorry it took being a bit blunt to apparently get the message across.

I have been watching this discussion on this thread and it was obvious that his question was answered. Then within a short period the question was ask of basically the same thing again. The answer was given again.

I thought there must be some sort of game going on. I continued to watch and was thrown by surprise at the outburst directed at this Forum. From my standpoint it was completely unwarranted as he had received his information more than once.

I hate to see someone leave this Forum with the wealth of information available for just asking. This is somewhat like shooting yourself in the foot.

If you read my question carefully, my final question was if a Chevy dealer offered a solid color besides the DUCO choices (ie special order).
It was not a case of believing or not believing or waiting for the answer I wanted to hear. If you all read car history, no matter what brand, there are/were custom orders, etc. That is what I was trying to learn. I also asked if any memebers painted their older Chevy's solid colors or not.
If DUCO options were the only choice then so be it.
With this forum and with membership in general I notice that there are few long timers who answer questions with blunt answers; not just to me.

When you say solid color, are you refering to the body being all one color & the fenders black or are you asking if a car could be ordered as body & fenders being the same color? I've seen trim plates that had no paint code & they were usually ordered by companies for their fleet, like Swift. But, even all black cars received some sort of pinstriping. I've noticed Canadian cars at least 1934 were painted body & fender color the same in some cases....Joe

Thanks for you nice answer. Yes I did mean solid black for the car. I was asking if dealers did special orders of that type, and I never thought of fleet orders. What color do you guess they did pin striping with?
Thanks again for the help.

I never got any of the 29 service news bullitins which would've had the paint information. I understand a copy of the Duco colors could be purchased from the Filling Station. I have some pages from Ditz-Lac & they dont show black till 10/1/1929. At that time they show code 12 which is mostly black except the body mouldings. They are shown as Sagamore Green with Tusk Ivory pin stripes. Wheels were also that green.
Paint code 28 is also shown as black. It had Ayres Grey mouldings with Shalimar Orange wheels & pin stripes.
Henry was telling everybody they could get any color they wanted as long as it was black
I guess Louis was telling the Chevrolet people thing don't need to be all black.....Joe
