I've been mia this summer working outside instead of working on the car. Tore the rear end apart and pulled the drive shaft out , the part that rides on the front bushing is scored pretty good . Is this area a canidate for a speedy sleeve ? The bushing , as luck has been going my spare is every bit as sloppy as the what is left of the orignal . Filling station doesnt list that model so off to the lathe . I do have a piece of bushing material big enough but how tight should it fit to the shaft ? Would .005 be enough clearance between the bushing and the drive shaft ? The drive shaft itself is too long for my lathe ,so thats why I'm thinking of the sleeve . Well I suppose if I would wire weld the shaft and hold it with a 3 jaw steady rest I could do it but would theheat mess up the temper of the shaft ? Thanks , Ivan
