I think this might have been answered before but I have forgotten (senior moment)....

For a '32 Chevy, is the instrument cluster area painted or do you use the art deco decal? Does the build date make a difference as to which way you should go (if there are 2 ways it was done)? If painted what color (body color or ?)?

Hey Gator! We have covered this in detail several times before. You can do a search on Chevy Chatter and check the past postings on the subject. :cool2: laugh laugh laugh

Sounds so easy to "Use the search" however since most people don't put the correct name or year in the string title (or in message) it is difficult to find information...sure would help if people did. These are the results of searches so far:

Different things have been said on different strings....deluxe vs. standard, depends on what factory built car, before April vs. after April, different models done different, etc.

I just want to know if a standard cabriolet built in Dec. '31 should have the art deco decal or have paint in the instrument panel cluster; and what color paint?

Or is this a question that has no correct answer??? Dealer's choice, maybe?

Gator, It looks like you have all the answers!

Remember what __________ said:

Gator.....we have talked about this several times before. If the Art Deco transfer was not used the recess was usually painted body color. It all depends upon your paint number as to what color the recess was. Your cabriolet was an early production so the Art Deco transfer was not used. Write this down so that you don't forget. ha ha! laugh laugh laugh laugh

Good, as long as the judges know this information too...remember it is paint 95...car was bought in SC, would that help with what factory made the car?

For information sake...why do you say "usually painted body color", was there another something else done?

Chipper, from your comment I guess you found the answer to my question on a search....I sure couldn't find it...what term did you search with?

It's too bad about paint and no decal , I sorta like the look of the art deco decal....oh well, original is original...but then again on the other hand, if....

Thanks guys.

Gator, you said: "So the ridge has no body color paint on it, just the flat recess area, right?"

Chipper Dipper replied: "I think you got it this time."

I think that Chipper Dipper was basically agreeing with you that "yes, you have it right, the ridge has no body color paint on it, just the flat recess area." I don't think that it had anything to do with a search since he was just agreeing with your answer. yipp laugh laugh laugh
