Just wondering what the story is on the 1938 Gear Shift Knobs? I have seen 2 different types of knobs: one that is cone shaped and about 1 7/8 Dia and about 2 1/8 long and the other is about the same DIA but a lot shorter and more pancake shaped? the Pancake shaped one seems to be a carry-over from 1937? What is the story?

The flat one was the production knob.It was the first year that the production knob was color keyed to the other dash knobs. It was kind of a gray /ivory color (when new) and made from a hard rubber..The 1937 and previous had black as did trucks up into the ''60's and more.
The tall knob was the extra cost (50 cents) accessory knob.It was a plastic material and did match the other knobs. Most have crumbled away by now.
Will send you some pictures.
