I need some help from someone who has installed a new top on a '50 convertible, I assume '49 is comparable. My question is on the rear window panel and its attachment to the tack rail on the body. My kit is from Hampton Coach, but their instructions are not great and lack any pictures for reference. Since I didn't remove the original, I don't have any first hand knowledge. I can't find any pictures in anything I have that shows any detail of this area. The combination of zippers seems odd, and in order to fully utilize them, you end up with an area that doesn't appear finished, a "dangling" zipper end. I'm afraid I'm missing something and before I tack it all down, I'd like to confer with someone who has done one or has a original for comparison.
Thanks in advance for any help,

gpallen2: I had a professional upholstery shop install the one I bought from Electron Top Mfg. Co. about 10 years ago. The back top well trim panel should cover up the zipper ends. I can email you pictures.

Thanks Jim,
I had sent you a PM a little while ago with the same questions but it would really be helpful if you could email some pictures of the finished installation, inside and outside of this area. I hate to tack it all in and find a problem then. My email address is gpallen2@aol.com I think the quality and patterns are good from Hampton Coach but not having done one like this before is a little confusing.
Thanks again, Gene

Chevy50Jim,
I just read the post on VCCA and your answer concerning chev convertible tops.
I am in the process of putting my 1949 chev convertible back together and would sure appreciate it if you would include me on the mailing list for any pictures of your installed top. greasemonkey1941@comcast.net
I took pictures and measurements before removing my top and I have a proffessional upolstery shop that is doing the installation sometime this summer. Although I trust him and I have my pictures I have found from experience that you can never have to much information on something like this. Also after all of the other mistakes I have found on my car it makes me remember a gentleman I once worked for, in his words "I do not want something put back together as it was, I want it put back correct".

Thanks, The Greasemonkey
