I have a 31 pickup and I'm trying to determine what parts from other year cars and trucks I can use on my 31. From the pictures that I've seen it looks like 31, 32, and 33 pickups are basically the same with the rounded 1 piece cab corners. I know that most of the body parts will switch between the pickup and the 11/2 or 2ton but I don't know about the front fenders. Are there any parts that will interchange between cars and trucks like hoods and grill shells? I appreciate any info. Thanks

The 1931 1/2 ton used p/n 354514 & 354515 front fenders (plain no well) that is the same for 1931 & 1932 models AE (passenger and 1/2 ton truck) BB (1932 1/2 ton truck). The welled frt. for 1931 p/n 356296 & 356296 fenders fit model EA (car & 1/2 ton). The 1.5 ton truck for 1931 used plain fenders p/n 354514 and 453515 for models LT, M & N. 1.5 ton welled fenders are different. 1932 &1933 1/2 ton welled fenders are different p/n's 1933 fenders were different. 1931-32 hood p/n 363357 (non-doors, has loovers) for all models except BA. 1933 is different.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

The part interchange for your '31 pickup depends on how "correct" you want the parts. You are correct that the cabs for '31, '32, '33 are basically the same but not exactly. There are differences in all years. It would take too much space to describe each part. The common opinion that the trucks used sheet metal carried over from previous car models is pure BS.

You can purchase a Feb. '32 and a 29-42 part book reprint and determine the exact interchange by looking up the part numbers and noting the models and years covered. A caution is that there are Deluxe 1/2 ton options for all three years that are not completely covered in the parts book. And if you are a VCCA member you can contact the TA for your truck and get free help. I know he has spent nearly 40 years reseaching these trucks.

I think because I'm new to these trucks I'm looking for a real general idea of what year of truck shared the same body parts. I know that some parts will interchange even if they don't have the correct part numbers. Thanks for the help.

Cab parts such as instrument panels are different for all three years. Cowl vents are used all '32 (except for very early production) and '33 trucks. "T" type outside door handles on 1931 but '31 passenger style handles on the '32 and '33. '31 and '32 used cardboard inside door panels while '33 used metal. Inside window riser handles are same as '27 passenger.

Those are some of the similarities and differences.
