Well, actually 2 questions...
#1- What size were the wheels on a 64 Impala SS small block w/ PG trans?

#2- What size were thw wheels on a 64 Impala SS Convertible w/ 409/425 4 speed?

Thanks again!
Joel

The standard rim size was 14" X 5" for all models except wagons. They had 6" wide rims.
The width is measured between the rim flanges.
The 1964 dealer albumn lists the optional 6" rim for all models and notes that its required with some options.I would guess the option that they are refering to is the 409 engine.I can think of no other option that would require the wider rim.
Note that I am not 100 percent sure.I know that it 1962 the 409 used the 5" rim but they may have increased it later for better handling.
The 409 did come with 8.00 tires where as the smmaller engines had only 7.50 (convertibles had 8.00)

Joel,
The standard size wheel in '64 for all full size models other than station wagons was 14x5. Although 409 cars were required to have 8.00x14 tires, they still got the 14x5 wheel. A 14x6JK wheel was optional on any model "except" station wagons (because it was standard on wagons). Contrary to hobby lore, there is no such thing as a "409 wheel".
