OK ... What are people using as substitutes?
At this point, anything would be better then nothing.

Ribbed rubber matting material that comes in a roll. You cut it to fit and glue it in place. Looks goofy, but it works.

There are a couple of places that will "pour" on a new covering. If you don't care about exact authenticity, then maybe this is a good way to go.

One company that I'm aware of is
http://www.automotiverubberparts.com/

There's another one, but I couldn't easily find where I saved their address.

We made our own running board mats. It was a very simple and inexpensive job.

Send me an email at kolmstead@flash.net and I will send you pictures and the way we did it.

I & I reproductions: http://iandireproduction.com/
has been in the processing of making them. You can call and ask for Wendy and be put on the mailing list when they are ready.

Here is a possible vendor:
Precision Rubber
P.O. Box 2184, Didsbury, Alberta, Canada, T0M 0W0
Phone 4033359590
Fax: 4033359637

Could it be a possibility that I bought rubber mats for my 31 by Mooneys Antiques' Parts. Do they still exist? stressed

Yes, I believe that Mooney's is still in business. However, the running board mats that they were selling at one time were the same mats that were being made by Jim McConnville. After he passed away I&I Reproduction obtained the molds and they have done nothing with them since!

Here a guy i found internet surfing. I don't know anything about him. It looks like he does them like original. It also looks very expensive. Give it a try. I will probably have to use him when the time comes......Joe
