I have my Chassis completed and I put Synthetic brake fluid in the system. A buddy of mine told me that the local parts jobber said not , that it will swell the rubber. Am i asking for trouble or is it ok. I just want to be sure as I have used it before with no problems. I did do a search but didn't really find a def. answer. Thanks in advance guys.

I had used it in my 60 Impala for the past 12 years and had no problems. IT IS IMPORTANT TO USE EVERYTHING NEW!!!!
Good Luck,
John

What do you call synthetic brake fluid?...First if its an approved brake fluid it will not swell the "rubber".
I assume you are refering to Dot 5 fluid which has a silicone base. When changing over to Dot 5 its best to have new rubber cups but many have used it with their old cups with no problem-including myself.
I have had Dot 5 in two of my cars for may years with no problem. As with all brake fluids it would be best to change it every few years.
There is another fluid sold by Valvoline that they call synthetic. Its still a Dot 4 base as is conventional fluid.I use this in my modern cars -see no reason why it couldn't be used in collector cars.

Thanks for the reply guys. Yes, all new kits. I didn't see why it wouldn't be alright but better safe then sorry. It is a DOT 5. Some counter personal should have just stayed at Mickey D's.

Thanks again. I appreciate the responses.
