I have a 1933 1 1/2 ton truck and I am replacing all the wood. The cab was pretty straight forward but now I am working on the doors. Is there a trick to getting to all the old wood out? It appears that I either need to drill out some rivets or break some spot welds that hold the door skin to the metal frame.

On the hinge side of the door, through the wood piece at the bottom, there are 4 carriage bolts thru the wood onto a bracket. The bracket appears to be riveted onto the hinge pillar. The nuts for the carriage bolts are between the skin of the door and the bracket and there appears to be no way to get to them.

On the hinge side in the middle of the door, there are some brackets with the same situation as above.

The sheet metal at the top of the door, on the hinge side, also seems to be trapped.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I am not sure on the 33 truck doors but on the 34-36 high cabs to replace the wood in the doors you have remove the vertical bracket riveted and spot welded to the hinge side of the door frame. The wood pieces around the window were assembled to the bracket and to the door post before inserting into the door and in fact one of the screws at the top of the door is partically covered over by the outside door skin. A lot of the fasteners were installed first as they are found between the wood and the outside door skin.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

Did the 34's have riveted brackets at the bottom, in the middle and at the top? My 33 appears to have wood bolted/screwed to brackets at all three places.

Thanks

The 34-35-36 high cab doors have a vertical channel bracket that is located in the middle hinge are of the door it is riveted in 2 places and spot welded 5 places. No brackets at the bottom of the door. The wood horizontal pieces above and below the window opening were both attached to the latch pillar wood post before installing into the door sheet metal. The lower window opening piece was also attached to this channel bracket before it and the other attached wood was installed. I would think the 33 door would have much the same assembly proceedure as the 32 car doors. You might try to find a Fisher Body Service Manual for the 1932 cars. Have you talked to K.C. Wood or Jim Rodman? Both make reproduction wood parts and they may have some suggestions.

I bought the kit from Jim Rodman and have left him a message. I'll look fo a 32 manual and keeping trying Jim.
