Hi folks

I was just refered to this site by a member of the ChevyTalk forums. It looks like a great resource!

My post there concerned a 'mystery car' that turned up on Steve's Nova Site this week. I'm certainly no expert on pre-30s Chevies, so I was looking for some 'expert advice'. I posted this photo and asked for comments:

So, following MrMack's advice, here I am! As I said over there, I guessed that this is a '23 Chevy based on the shape and detail of the radiator shell and the design of the front fenders. The headlight bar has come in for some discussion, though.

Anyone here familiar with these cars? I'd appreciate any comments!

Dave B.

That tie bar does not look like a late '25 items to me... more like and aftermarket job.

The windshield visor looks like a 1925 Spuperior K and the headlamp tiebar also but the radiator shell looks like a 1924.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

My guess is a late 1925 with an earlier shell and possibily radiator. The hood and shell do not appear to fit well.

On reflection I think that's what it is.

The cowl lights first appeared 1924 series F. so that would leave out 1923.

A late comment.
I would bet it to be an early '25. Can't be earlier because it has semi-elliptic springs, whereas earlier all had 1/4 elliptic.
The headlights are early too, having a one piece steel rim. The stay bar appears foreign , adding to the early '25 suggestion, because they did not have one. It seems odd that the headlight reflectors are not showing the typical fluting. Were the pre '24 lamps plain? If so then these lamps are also foreign to the car.
The radiator shell looks like a '24 to me.
Body I can't comment on because sedans this early here are rarer than hens teeth. Can't say I've ever seen one.
Cheers.
Geoff.
