Are there any manuals availble for the 47 convertible operation? The section in the shop manual doesn't show the same controls that I have. Just purchased the car from storage since 1992.

All the shop manuals from 42 - 48 are the same. They're all '42's - page for page. I have 3 of them each with a different cover and dates...When you get the reprint top instructions be sure to specify the "A" body one. Early reprints were for "C" body cars. Luckily, I found an original for my '48 and for 5 bucks at a rural swap meet...

The top folding instructions are the same for the A bodies 42 - 48. The tops had minor differences with trim especially in '48 and the small rear windows were the same. These years had 3 clamps holding the top to the windshield header and the C body cars had a central lever that performed the same funtion..My hydraulics are original and work just fine. The steel pipes under the floor mat were rusted an leaking and I just replaced them and flushed the system. The current thinking is to use ATF in the system. Back when I did mine, I used silicone and it has worked fine. But in our rainy climate, the top doesn't get put down much...

Just remembered that the first Hampton Coach top kit for '42 - '48 used an original '42 for its pattern. At the meet in Downington, the owner of Hampton Coach taught a seminar and I was in the market for a new top and info about them. Might have been Bill W.'s - the meet chairman - car. Can't remember for sure.

Does anyone have an original rear wood bow for the 47-48 Cabriolet? I see Chevs offers them, but I can't bring myself to pay the $400 plus that they are asking. If someone has one that I could use as a template, I think I am going to try to make it. A simple tracing of the profile on paper would be a huge help. I have the side irons, so the shape in that area is defined for me, but across the center a template would help so I get the crown sweep right across the center of the car. A few pixs would also help - Thanks
