Hi,
I'm working on reconstructing the doors on my 38 master coupe. When I got it, they were stripped of all hardware. No problem with the vent windows. On the regular windows, I have located good regulators. From studying the Construction and Service Manual, however, it appears to me that I'm missing some other crucial hardware. Unfortunately the explanation and pictures aren't quite clear enough to make sense to me. It would seem that I also need to find door glass lower (sash) channels, window regulator cams, and regulator guides. Am I right in assuming that the glass lower (sash) channels receive the bottom edge of the plate glass; the channel is then srewed on to the window regulator cam; which, in turn attaches to the actual window regulator? What is the regulator guide, which is held to the door panel with two screws?
If my assumptions are correct, is there a place to find these pieces? I've checked aftermarket outfits and don't seem to find entries for lower channels, regulator guides, or regulator cams. I suppose I'll need to find parts doors/cars or keep looking on ebay.
Any clarification on these points will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Yours,
Jim

I have the glass out of the driver's side door on my 2dr. If you would like, I could take some pictures of the working mechanisms both holding the new glass and inside the door. Send me your email address if you would like me to do this. I don't know where you can find these parts except in an old junkyard or from someone specializing in old Chevy's such as Ida's. Beamer

You can buy the inside window handles & escussions (sp?) new for the Master Deluxe but not the Master (different knob). I have a few extra for the Master. I think I might have enough for your coupe. They're used but in pretty good overall condition. Let me know if you're interested.

I have a similar problem with my 38 coupe. Someone cut the metal out below the door handle and extending to the bottom of the door. I too would appreciate any pictures so that I might reconstruct this area. I'd try to replace the whole door, but the rest of the doors are so good I hate to replace them. Does anyone know of someone who might have the inside portion of the coupe doors? Surely there are some dented and rusty doors some where so that I might weld in the missing section of my doors.
I do have the verticle channel that runs down the center of the door.

I tried to send you a private email but not sure it went out. I would be glad to send you the same pictures I am sending jmmmn37. I told him I would probably be able to send them tomorrow so if you want copies, send me your email address. Beamer

The window slides between a metal adjustable channel at the front and a fixed channel (welded to the internals of the door) on the back. The front channel uses a metal backed fuzzy rubber channel that is riveted to the support and the back is all rubber and slides into the channel. The sash that holds the window glass is metal and has a wide, thin C channel at the bottom. There is a pin at the top end of the regulator that slides in this C Channel. There are two leather "washers" on the pin, one on the inside of the channel and the other on the outside. The window position is adjusted by a screw that holds the bottom of the front channel, to locate the window front the back, and a flat nut on the screw that adjusts in and out.
The back metal channel on both of my doors had to be replaced.
How is that for a description.

Many thanks to Beamer and bigbth for their help on this question; I now think I know what parts I need to find, etc.
