d2d2: If that is the same Moonlight Speedster in Colorado that I, and David Perry of Australia, are aware of, based on all of the investigation that was done on the car, it appears to be a well done replica, and not a real Moonlight. :( :( :( :( :(

If it's a fake they should identify it as a replica.

You are correct! However, as I understand it the owner apparently thinks that it is a real car since he doesn't know all that much about it, but the appraiser that we have been in contact with many times, who appraised the car, also believes that this car is not a real Moonlight Speedster.

d2d2 If you can post some photos of the Hurlingham or Moonlight speedster a friend of mine who has the only known restored moonlight speedster lives close by and he could soon identify a replica. chevy6 Brisbane Australia. chevy Agrin

Hi Chevy6! Photos of the "Moonlight" Speedster that is in Colorado were also sent to David Perry in Australia and he also confirmed that the car here in the States appears not to be a real Moonlight Speedster. Both David and I have detailed photos of the real Moonlight Speedster that is near you and those photos tend to confirm that the Colorado car is probably not a real Moonlight. Dave also talked to the certified appraiser that was in the process of appraising the car, and the appraiser already had a hunch that this car wasn't originally a real Moonlight Speedster before he called David or myself for further details about the real Moonlight Speedster near you. Seems to me that years ago I did hear rumors about a second 1932 Moodlight Speedster that was supposed to exist, but the car in Colorado is left hand drive and the body differs greatly from the real Moonlight that is in Australia, and part of the body also appears to be homemade. The car in Colorado is a great looking car though! laugh laugh laugh laugh

J.Y.D. I have heard plenty of rumours over the years about second moonlight speedsters but would really love to see some definite proof of their existence I have seen plenty of photos of 31 and 32 speedsters taken in the 40s and 50s but never later than the 60s other than the one near me. It would be great if someone could come forward with some conclusive proof chevy

I agree! Like you, the only real Moonlight Speedster that I have seen is the one near you even though I have heard about a second one for years. The one in Colorado could be the one that the rumors are about, but if it is, it is a replica so we are back to square one. By the way, the fellow who owned the car for many years (before the current owner) had a restoration shop, so that fits with the body on this replica being fabricated. Unfortuantely though....years down the road folks are probably going to believe that this car is another real Moonlight Speedster. :( :( :( :(

BILL, THE COMPUTER BOOTED FINE TODAY, VIEWED THE PHOTOS AND I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN, PHOTO #4 IS QUITE A SURPRISE. LOOKS LIKE AMERICA AND EUROPE COMBINED TO MAKE A SPORTS CAR. THANKS FOR MAKING THE PHOTOS AVAILABLE. COUPLE OF QUESTIONS; 1. I HAVE A '32 CABRIOLET, WHERE SHOULD THE FRONT TAG BE? I'VE SEEN IT ON THE LIGHT BAR AND ON THE FRONT BUMPER (PASS. SIDE). WHAT WERE THE COLOR CHOICES FOR WHEELS (STEEL) IN '32? MY COLORS ARE YELLOW BODY AND BLACK FENDERS. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE. GATOR

Hi Gator! Your license plate should be on the headlight bar. On the wheel colors, it sounds like your paint number is #124. To verify your paint number, look at your cowl tag that is under the hood, and there you will find your paint number, along with the trim number, body number and the job number. At any rate, if your paint number is #124, your wire wheels should be black. laugh laugh laugh

JYD, THAT IS A BIG SURPRISE! BLACK ON THE WHEELS IS THE ONE COLOR I HAVEN'T SEEN IN PHOTOS OF '32 CABRIOLETS. I'VE SEEN CHEVY ORANGE (A LOT), SOME REDS, YELLOW AND GREY, BUT NEVER BLACK. HOWEVER I BOW TO YOUR EXPERTISE, IS IT A GLOSS, SEMI-GLOSS,OR FLAT BLACK?
AREN'T PEOPLE LOSING POINTS WITH THESE OTHER COLORS? THANKS, GATOR

Hey Gator: The license plate was held in place on the headlight bar by two special clips that went over the bar, and then the licence plated bolted on directly to these two clips.

Standard34: Yep, you are right on about the Vauxhall! laugh laugh laugh laugh

THE MOONLIGHT SPEEDSTER THAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IN THE USA IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE A 1932 CHEVROLET MOONLIGHT SPEEDSTER REPLICA.
THERE ARE MANY DETAILS ON THE CAR THAT ARE NOT CORRECT FOR A TRUE MOONLIGHT AND SKIP "JYD" AND MYSELF WERE ABLE TO COMPARE THE DIFFERENCES WHICH ENABLE US TO DETERMINE THE CAR IS NOT AN ORIGINAL HOLDEN BUILT MOONLIGHT SPEEDSTER.

Gator: As far as I know, the headlight bar license plate clips are no longer available. I seem to remember that they were reproduced years ago though. :( :(

Dave: Thanks for jumping in with your input on the replica Moonlight Speedster. It was great to hear from you! laugh laugh laugh laugh
