I've just spent an hour looking on the internet for spark plugs for a 1928 Chevy four cyl head. All I found is one reference that says 27 and 28 are different. I still don't know what the part number is, or where to buy a set! Is there a list of suppliers somewhere, or maybe someone on here can give me the different brand and part numbers available so I can look on eBay? Thank you in advance!

The 1928 uses the AC78S. The old extended version, not the short version usually available. (1/2 vs 3/4 reach) An alternate plug is provided by the Filling Station and Gary Wallace. If you don't have any luck, contact me by EM.

Someone told me that Model A Ford plugs work, anyone use them? I'm wondering if they are the right heat range and length. The car they will be going in is 6:1 compression, does that make a difference? I'm not up on the chevy stuff, I play with Fords 99% of the time.

I use the W16Y Champions in my 28 since I can't find a modern Delco plug that has the correct thread and reach. I unscrew the snap on top terminal and replace it with a brass 8-38 knurrled nut from Lowes (specialty fasterners cabinet)

Next on the list is an exhaust clamp. I called the supplier and they say that no one makes a reproduction exhaust clamp and that I don't need one. This does not sound right to me. There are grooves in the manifold where something clips on, anyone have a photo of an original setup?

Hi Gen3AntiqueAuto, Believe it or not, you have been advised correctly. None of the 4-cylinder cars have a clamp where the heat stove attaches to the exhaust manifold. The two groves you see were packed with an asbestos string, then the pipe was slipped over the string and manifold. There is no need for a clamp there as the strap around the muffler holds the exhaust pipe on to the manifold.
