This is an official call for photos of all years. I have a project underway and I'm now at the stage where I can use car and truck photos. auto

If you have one that you'd like to share, please send it to me.

  • Include "vcca" in the subject line.
  • Please make all photos 800 pixels or greater in width.
  • And please, include the YEAR in the photo.

Actually if you want to help me out, you could name your files similar to this:

1932Landau.jpg
1982Camaro.jpg
1949halfton.png

Send to webmaster@vccachat.org

Each person that submits a photo, will receive a web link to the test page so that they can see what the project is going to look like. Please don't share it with anyone else. (Ha! Like THAT'S going to work!!)

Thanks.

Received about 16 photos so far... not bad for a single day.

Added about 10 of them to the project..

Those who sent me photos received an email back with a link showing them the "test" project. My goal is to have it ready for public release just before I head to the Annual Board meeting on March 2nd.

Bill are you looking for restored cars/trucks or pictures of brand new Chevrolets? Since I don't have any method of taking digital pictures but have actual prints would copies help?

I am sworn to secrecy but Bill accepted a photo from me. Nice restored or good original Chevys sure will look good in the "project". Don't think I am out of bounds telling y'all that Bill wants nice shots of any Chevy you are proud to own and share with others. If he gets too many then he will have to cull them and some of us will be disapointed that ours did not get included. But if he gets too few then the project might not be what he intends it to be.

So folks send in the photos and see what happens. I am sure you will be pleased with the result.

Like Chipper, my photo was accepted too. However, under penalty of a dented fender and a tarnished hood ornament I can't reveal the contents of the preview I've seen except to agree with Chipper when he said to send those pictures in and that you will be pleased with what Bill is doing.

Absolutly fabulous, Bill......keep up the great work. This is gonna be GREAT!!! :) dance

Thanks everybody... We certainly have some fine photos... Initially I want to shy away from any photo that might be in next year's calendar... Just trying to keep the Calendar "fresh" and "interesting". So if you send it to the calendar and it gets accepted, don't be disappointed if I drop it from the "project". Again, I want to support Jim's effort and make the calendar UNIQUE.

Now... I still need photos of these years:

1911-15
1917-18
1920-21
1943-47
1969
1979-84
1986-2005

Hummm... does this sort of give a hint as to what the "project" is all about? ha ha...

Send to webmaster@vcca.org

Will publicly release the web pages on March 1st.

Thanks.

I hope and would expect Bill to get many more pictures than needed for his new idea. Many years have been covered up, but may be will be replaced each??? month or quarter.

There should be some goodies left for chevy calendar 2008 as well. Let's see in March, folks! dance Let's enjoy the auto auto, even in wintertime.

ha ha 42Bill.. yes, I was going to wait until I had copies of all of the years that I was looking for... but I still need 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 !!!!! Ah, shucks, maybe I'd better show you what I have now.

HOWDY HOWDY yay
The newest project for the VCCA web site is up and running. I still want to tweak it some more before I add the link on the vcca homepage. But I'd like to give you-all a chance to see it in advance. You may notice some photos don't render quite right - ie that aspect ratio is slightly off. That's a result of getting so many differnt photos of different sizes. I'll need to go back and "modify" the ones that don't render properly. togo curse

I want to THANK everyone who sent one to me... and many, many people sent more than one!! Since the current display only allows one photo for each year, that means that all of the duplicate years will have to wait until I add a different module later.

Secondly I want to thank Jim Martoza for helping me out by building the "placeholder" graphics. Additionally thanks to Jim Knopp for letting me re-use the photos from his earlier calendars.

I think that I have all of the coding done now, and it appears to be running stable. But if you see something funny (except for distorted photos), then by all means, please let me know.

Have fun!

Magnificent, Bill B. You are a gift to all of us. And good luck with the plans and the development at the meeting.

A very humble suggestion: Group 11-35 Use the oldest emblems on left and the younger from that period on the right. Repeat in each group, with steadily younger emblems. The present Bow Tie-emblem should be used as the latest one, to give the development of this interesting part of the Chevrolet story.

But, for heaven's sake: Thanks again, Bill. yay yay

AgrinHey all,

Just wanted to let everyone know........Bill finally went public with the "100 Years of Photos".

Check out the link on the VCCA Homepage and Chat Homepage.

He's still got quite a few years missing, so let's get those missing photos into Bill so he can fill those years in and show everyone what the VCCA is all about!!!

Looks great, Bill.

Thanks

Would be nice if each one with a car pictured would list the year and owners name on this page.
Example-
2002-Mike Smith....
and nothnig more.

That sounds reasonable. In a credit union flyer today they show a bunch of photos with the person's first name and last initial... wonder if that would work?

I would say I could guess the last name 75 percent of the time. What could be used that would give a little more of a clue-the chat site name also?or?

I really like what you have done with the 100 years of Chevrolets. My only suggestion is both a car and a truck for each year; maybe in the future, thanks.
