I'm not 100% sure but before the advent of rotational tires, the standard X process was pretty standard for most instances, assuming all tires and wheels are the same size. Front left to right rear, front right to left rear.

Tire rotation was unheard of back then.Thats a modern thing that started in the '50's....If you X them each time that sould be sufficent.Unles you have a problem you will find the the tire wear on the old cars is pretty even on all four corners. If you do it every 500 to 7000 miles it will be good time to check the tires for cracks and such.

Chief
I might be the exception to the rule but the only tyre rotation I do is when I replace tyres. Replace 2 and put the new on the front and the worn straight back to the rear. I also avoid reversing the rotation direction especially with the steel type radials, I have seen too many with the steel bands shift and look like a egg by reversing rotation.
This has a two way benefit, you only need to buy 2 tyres at once and you always have good tyres on the steering.

Thanks Drew, Gene, Tony. The reason I was asking I just Had The Knee Action Shocks rebuilt and added new front end parts.Tires are in good shape However one front tire has a little more ware where I had a bad Knee action shock, and I wanted to make sure that tire made it to the rear of the car.
