I need a new transmission cover for my 1940 Town Sedan and after speaking with Chevs of the 40s all they offer is a "hot rod" cover that is designed to fit around a 350. Can anybody supply me with a supplier ( with phone number) of an original style transmission cover? I am also in need of a left front steel brake line for same-Chevs offers a complete set, but I would like to purchase just the line that I need. Thanks to all my " purchasing agents" out there. You have helped with water pumps and shocks, and your help on these items is equally appreciated!!!! chevy40

Chevy40 If you are replacing the brake pipe due to rusting through I would replace the LOT as the rest are probably in nearly the same condition. Better to be sure than sorry, brakes are more important than engines these days. Tony

No rusting problem - I needed to replace flexible line on both front wheels and even though I soaked for weeks with PB Blaster when I tried to turn fitting on hard line it twisted the line, so I continued turning until the fitting came out and was by then broken off of main line. I normally would buy a length of brake line and bend myself, but at the point I twisted this thing off the line makes a pretty tight 180 degree turn I know I would have difficulty bending. I still have old line I could bring to a brake shop to duplicate, but thought a pre-bent one would be easier. Same thought with the trans cover.
